| Taoiseach Mr. Brian Cowen Visits China Leading a Large Trade Mission |

The Irish Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Mr. Brian Cowen paid a three- day visit to China from 22nd to 24th October. He was accompanied by a trade mission of 98 companies, which was the second largest ever in Irish history.
During his stay in China, the Taoiseach took part in a business breakfast organized by Enterprise Ireland and attended by 600 guests. He also attended promotional events organized by Tourism Ireland and An Bord Bia, an IDA event on the Irish financial services sector, and the signing of memorandums of understanding between the Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority and the China Bank Regulatory Commission and the China Securities Regulatory Commission, and between IDA Ireland and the China Development Bank. Mr. Cowen met with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and exchanged ideas on the significant and growing trade and bilateral relationship between Ireland and China. On 24th October, Mr. Cowen attended the 7th Asia- European (ASEM) Summit in Beijing.
